Programmer's Pick

When your pit stop introduces you to a family whose idea of home decor involves human skin, you know you’ve left Route 66 far behind. Marcus Nispel’s reboot slices into rural paranoia and sadistic spectacle, with Leatherface’s mask work setting a new bar for DIY horror couture.

Overview

On a sweltering Texas day in 1973, five young friends—Erin, Kemper, Morgan, Andy, and Pepper—find their road trip to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert taking a deadly turn. After a detour to Mexico and a run-in with a traumatized hitchhiker, their plans unravel when the hitchhiker shocks the group with a gruesome act inside their van. Seeking help, the friends stumble into a rural labyrinth of unsettling locals, starting with the diner matron Luda Mae and a cryptic boy named Jedidiah. As they search for law enforcement, the group is drawn deeper into a sinister patchwork of isolation, psychological torment, and the threat of something far more dangerous lurking in the Texas countryside. The film sets a relentless, dread-soaked tone where escape seems increasingly impossible.
